Valley Counseling Center
Valley Counseling Center is an inclusive rural practice. We provide individual, couple, family and group treatment to both adults and young people. Specialities include treating patients coping with chronic illness, depression and anxiety; providing Marriage and Family Therapy; and treating abuse and trauma survivors for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Therapy is affordable. Since the passage of Timonthy's Law, most people can be seen for therapy for the same copayment amount as any other specialist.
Therapy is not mysterious. Expect your therapist to work together with you to choose the most efficient and effective way to approach the problem. Treatment options include individual, couple or family therapy. Medications can be useful for some people, and your therapist will work closely with the prescribing physician.
Therapy is not forever.
The benefits can last a lifetime.
Laurie Walker, CSW-R is a Clinical Social Worker licensed by New York State. A graduate of Boston University School of Social Work, she completed Post Graduate Training at the University of Rochester Family and Marriage Therapy Training Program. She worked for years as a medical social worker at Strong Memorial Hospital and as a psychotherapist in the Outpatient Clinic at Genesee Hospital Mental Health Center. She is certified to perform Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a safe and effective treatment method for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms.
